About Sichuan Yi for Chinese speakers
Sichuan Yi is written in the Yi script; Chinese uses Chinese characters. Chatting in writing is a good way to get used to a new script, because you can take your time with every message.
Both are Sino-Tibetan languages, so expect words and grammar that feel familiar.
Sichuan Yi is related to Burmese, Tibetan, Dzongkha.
How the exchange works
- Say what you speak and what you're learning. Talkabout shows you people who speak Sichuan Yi natively and are learning Chinese.
- Write to someone. Take turns: some messages in Sichuan Yi, some in Chinese, so you both get to practise.
- Fix each other's messages. Suggest a correction on any message and your partner sees exactly what changed. You choose how much you want corrected.
