Practise Romanian with native speakers who want to learn English

Talkabout pairs people who help each other: they speak what you're learning and are learning what you speak. Free, in your browser, adults only.

Who's here

Few people are exchanging Romanian and English yet. Sign up and we'll show you partners as they join, or invite someone who speaks Romanian.

About Romanian for English speakers

Romanian and English are both written in the Latin alphabet, so you can start reading straight away.

The US Foreign Service Institute estimates that English speakers need about 24–30 weeks of full-time study to reach professional working proficiency in Romanian. Regular conversation with native speakers is one of the best ways to fill those weeks.

Romanian is related to Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese.

How the exchange works

  1. Say what you speak and what you're learning. Talkabout shows you people who speak Romanian natively and are learning English.
  2. Write to someone. Take turns: some messages in Romanian, some in English, so you both get to practise.
  3. Fix each other's messages. Suggest a correction on any message and your partner sees exactly what changed. You choose how much you want corrected.

Safe by default

Talkabout is for adults only. Photos and contact details unlock only after you've both written to each other, nobody can flood your inbox, and favourites stay private unless you both choose each other.

You can block or report anyone from the chat. Everyone agrees to the community guidelines, and moderators tell you which rule was broken when they act on a report.
